Mark Smith Update

Smitty lands in Calgary

As many San Jose Sharks fans know, former team coach Darryl Sutter loves signing players that he's coached in the past. All you have to do is to take a look at the Calgary Flames linuep to see what I'm talking about. On their bench, there are a lot of faces that San Jose fans should recognize, and you can now add Mark Smith's mug to that list.

Shark Byte Episode #1 - 2007/2008

Drew Remenda Returns

The other night, Fox Sports Net Bay Area aired the very first episode of Shark Byte signaling that the 2007-2008 season is nearly upon us. As I've mentioned in the past, I don't always agree with Remenda's color commentary during Sharks games, but I have to admit that Shark Byte hasn't been the same since he left, and I'm glad he's back.

The "Hey" Song is Back

Goal celebration song returns to the Tank

An article in the Mercury News verified that the "Hey" song will be used once again to celebrate all of Team Teal's goals at home this year. Many fans, including myself, were sad to see it go last year. However, after reading about the circumstances, I now understand.

Team Teal isn't the only one with a new look

Like the 2007 - 2008 San Jose Sharks, I've decided to re-brand myself. Well...not really. I'm actually just releasing my brand new alternate logo!

San Jose Sharks to send players to China?

China to turn teal?

I found an article this morning that was both interesting and confusing. According to Reuters, and the UK's GuardianUnlimited, the San Jose Sharks will be sending three coaches and five players to the China Sharks of the Asia Ice Hockey League.

San Jose Sharks Have The Talent

The young Sharks are hungry

Preseason is a great opportunity to test line combinations, give rookies a taste of the NHL, and work off the summer rust. Unfortunately, the Sharks lost in a shootout last night, but after reading notes about the preseason opener against the Kings, one thing stood out in my mind: the Sharks organization is really deep.

San Jose Sharks' New Jerseys

"NewA review of the new sweaters

Well, the new Sharks jerseys are out and I have mixed feelings about them. Initially, I thought they looked terrible. A weird mix of new design features, laid out in an old school format. However, after talking with other Sharks fans and seeing the jerseys in action from the Teal and White game, the teal ones are starting to grow on me. Unfortunately, I'm still not a fan of the white jerseys. At any rate, here's my two cents on the new sweaters...the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Ryane Clowe News Article

"Big winger talks about the upcoming season"

I found a very interesting article on Ryane Clowe which discusses his journey to the NHL and the desire it will take to improve on his breakout season last year. More importantly, you should take a look at the comments at the end of the article. Clowe's dad and two aunts chime in, along with other locals. It really proves that there is strong hometown support around Number 29.

San Jose Sharks Store Frustration

Why is it so hard to get some help?

As a loyal San Jose Sharks fan, I decided to take a leap of faith and pre-order an authentic jersey before having ever seen it. At $250, it's not chump change. Unfortunately for me, it's been a rough ride trying to get someone to confirm my order.

Jeremy Roenick is a San Jose Shark?!

17-year veteran is coming to San Jose

Jeremy Roenick is one of those players that I love to hate, but respectfully so. He has always played tough (even in All-Star games) and was, at one point, a true NHL star. However, as his age caught up with him, he became more well-known for his skills during interviews. With this ability in front of a camera, JR seemed destined for the broadcast booth this year...but not quite yet.

NHL: San Jose Sharks Player Salaries

So how much does Team Teal make?

With the recent signings, I posted a number of player salaries yesterday. So, as a follow-up, I decided to put up the entire San Jose Sharks payroll for 2007/2008. Must be nice...
