One of My Biggest Pet Peeves
Sharks games that start late on TV
So many times have I been disappointed by numerous TV networks when it comes to starting a San Jose Sharks game on time. Whether it be a Warriors game in OT, a Stanford Basketball game that takes 30 minutes to finish the last minute of play, or a PGA event...it doesn't matter. Any time I miss the beginning of a Sharks game due to another television program, I become livid and this past Sunday's delay on NBC didn't produce a different reaction.
As a dedicated Sharks fan, I take care to plan appropriately so that I don't miss a minute of Sharks Hockey. I'll sometimes rush home from work or put off a number of chores just to see Team Teal play. I know...I know...TiVo would solve the two timing-issues just mentioned, but when the delay is out of my hands, it can be infuriating. Unfortunately, two to three times a season, I am met with this heartbreak and disappointment.
Imagine spending the entire day looking forward to a game, turning the channel to the proper station, and then seeing that stupid scrolling message across the bottom of the screen stating:
"We will be joining the San Jose Sharks game immediately after <place your favorite annoying delay here>".
Whatever happened to the split screen or the picture-in-picture that networks used to offer in situations like this one? I would be more than happy to watch the game in a tiny little box at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen if I had to...just give me something!
At any rate, Sharks telecast delays have to be one of my biggest pet peeves of all time. Granted, it's never as bad of a situation as the infamous Heidi Bowl; however, there has to be a number of Sharks fanatics out there that can empathize.

That is pretty annoying. But it is even worse when a game isn't televised. Granted, there are only a handful. But the tv cameras are already there, right? So just show the game! Dan and Jamie do a great job on the radio, but it's not the same.

I agree...I've been burned a number of times this year because I don't have FSN+!
