Bounces (and Ref) defeat San Jose
Sharks 1, Bruins 2
On Saturday night, the San Jose Sharks put the pressure on Boston, but luck was not on their side. Four pucks off the pipe and one off the referee led to a last second loss to the Bruins. Simply frustrating.
With Boston having played the night before, I was sure that the Sharks would come out with a lot of jump...especially for their home opener. Besides, San Jose had three whole days at home to prepare. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
I know what some may be thinking...the Sharks worked hard and just caught some bad breaks. That may be true; some close calls and bad bounces cost San Jose the game. However, with that said, if Team Teal had scored at least one powerplay goal, things could have been different. Instead, we finished 0 for 5 on the night. Boston did a great job of bending, but not breaking. In fact, it reminded me of the old San Jose Sharks under former coach Darryl Sutter.
I don't know what to say...the game was very frustrating to watch. I'm struggling with my assessment of Team Teal's performance so far. Again, it's early in the season, but we're losing to teams that we should be able to beat. Losses to Edmonton, Colorado, and now Boston leave me worried. Are we as good as everyone thinks we are? Or, do we simply look good on paper?
