I Hate #*@&!#& Shootouts
Sharks 2, Kings 3 SO
Do you remember the good ol' days of the NHL when you could play 65 minutes of hockey and walk away with a tie? Boy...I sure do miss that. As a fan, you could watch your team play hard, gain a point, and still feel good about it. Unfortunately for Sharks fans, when San Jose participates in the shootout, we usually don't end up feeling good about it.
Last night, Team Teal worsened their shootout record to 4-13. For some odd reason, San Jose always finds a way to lose in the shootout. On nights when Nabby stops two out of three, the forwards will score zero goals. Other nights, the forwards will score two out of three goals and Nabby won't stop any of the opponent's attempts. I just don't get it...the Sharks have so many talented and skilled forwards...why do we suck at the shootout?!
At this point, it almost feels like it's in the heads of the players. I know that it's in my head. Every time the zamboni comes out to do a dry cut of the ice, I know that someone will be walking away with an extra point and it is usually NOT the team in teal.
However, at the end of the day, we still got a point and that's what matters. San Jose now sits in second place, tied with the Anaheim Ducks, and that's a good thing. It's just a bit frustrating to think that the Sharks are leaving all of these points on the table when they lose like that. Remember, a point in November is equally as important as a point in April (during the playoff push).
