San Jose Sharks Sit in Third

Time off hurts Sharks

Usually, two losses in 12 days wouldn't be bad during a team's average NHL schedule. However, as I've mentioned before, San Jose's schedule has been anything but average.

Team Teal has played a total of four games in the last two weeks. Since November 17th, the Sharks have only played twice, losing both games. During that same time frame, other Pacific Division foes have been playing normal schedules and winning games. The Dallas Stars have gone 5-0-0-0 recently and find themselves in first place. As for the Anaheim Ducks, they have gone 2-2-0-1 and currently sit in second place, one point ahead of the Sharks.

The extra days off appear to have put some rust on our guys in Teal, but I still don't accept that as an excuse. Had the Sharks won at least one of the past two divisional match-ups, we'd be sitting in second place.

On the brighter side of things, given the recent "mini-vacation", the Sharks now have games in hand (two on Dallas and three on Anaheim). Moreover, tonight is an opportunity to start a comeback, and swim our way back up to first in the Pacific. The legs are rested, the fans are starving for a win, and after two consecutive losses, the Sharks are due.
