Sharks Dominate...at HOME?!

Sharks 5, Coyotes 0

On Monday night, the San Jose Sharks defeated the Phoenix Coyotes with a very strong showing on both the offensive and defensive side of the puck. With all of the lines going and Evgeni Nabokov stopping 25 shots on net, the Coyotes had no chance at winning this one.

Early in the first period, Joe Pavelski was awarded a penalty shot when he was taken down on a clear breakaway. Unfortunately, Number 8 was not able to convert. However, ten minutes later the Sharks were able to take the lead when Mike Grier scored a short-handed goal, giving an assist to Torrey Mitchell. At the end of the first, the Coyotes had more shots on goal, but San Jose was the one up by a goal.

In the second period, the Sharks extended their lead when Joe Thornton scored his 7th goal of the season. On the play, Jumbo Joe was able to get off a shot and then put in his own rebound on the near side. This goal completed the scoring during the second period, but the Sharks weren't done yet.

In the third period, Team Teal popped in another three goals with two coming off of the stick of rookie winger Devin Setoguchi. Showing a knack for putting the puck in the net, this young winger scored his 4th and 5th goals of the season. Then, with less than four minutes left in the game, the Sharks capped the night off with a power play goal coming from Thornton.

Notes:
 - Nabby earned his second shutout of the season
 - Sharks win two in a row at home
 - Setoguchi and Thornton remain hot
 - San Jose brings their Win-Loss Chart back up to 0
