Sharks First in Pacific, but Not Best in Pacific...Yet
Sharks 1, Ducks 2 SO
On Saturday night, the San Jose Sharks lost to the Anaheim Ducks, in a shootout, for the second time this season. The single point kept Team Teal in first place. Unfortunately, the result of the game showed me that San Jose still has a lot of work to do.
Rather than taking a completely negative approach to Saturday night's result, I'm going to look at all the positive things that happened.
Evgeni Nabokov strong in net: On the night, Nabby stopped 28 shots on goal. Against a talented team like Anaheim, I'm happy with the one goal against.
Solid penalty kill: The Sharks survived two Anaheim powerplays which keeps San Jose amongst the best teams in the league while on the PK.
No quit in San Jose: Down a goal, the Sharks worked hard to tie the game which eventually happened almost halfway through the third period.
Playing tough, but smart: The boys in teal showed their discipline by being sent to the penalty box only three times, and only giving up the man advantage twice.
Sandis Ozolinsh saves the day: With the puck literally crossing the goal line, the veteran defensman was able to get a stick on it (from behind the net) and keep the Ducks from scoring a very crucial goal.
Overall, I was pleased with San Jose's effort. The result isn't exactly what I was hoping for, but against last year's Stanley Cup Champs...I'll take a competitive game, and a point in the standings.

Ozo was huge in this game. He got the assist on the tying goal & made the biggest save of the night. Maybe Wilson should've let him participate in the shootout.
