Davison Moved Just Under the Deadline Wire
Islanders get Davison for a 7th rounder
With the addition of Brian Campbell to the lineup, the San Jose Sharks simply had too many defenseman. Consequently, one had to be moved...looking up and down the roster, Davison made the most sense.
I liked Davison...he seemed like a good team guy. He was always willing to play hard and never made a stink whenever he was a healthy scratch; which was often. He will be missed, but the move had to be done. Here's why:
- Adding Campbell, Team Teal had a total of 11 defenseman with the big club. Moreover, the Sharks still have a couple of young defenseman in the system that may be ready in the next year or two.
- Davison might have been the most desirable defenseman on the Sharks. Rob is young, affordable, willing to drop the gloves, able to play forward, and a hard worker.
- The New York Islanders defensive core has not been looking good due to a number of reasons, so the addition of Davison will be welcomed as they strive towards making the playoffs.
- San Jose was able to pick up another 7th rounder for this summer's draft which is supposed to be a deep one. Maybe GM Doug Wilson may be able to transform all of these late round picks for a couple of early rounders now that we gave away our 1st round pick.
