Strong Effort...No Results
Sharks 3, Flames 4 OT
Tuesday night, the San Jose Sharks played a quick and physical game, but lost. After putting 43 shots on net, Team Teal walked away a loser. The Calgary Flames have now beat San Jose in three consecutive games. The Sharks dominated for nearly the entire game, but just couldn't close the deal. It was especially frustrating that Calgary tied the game with less than a minute left...something that San Jose couldn't do the last time these two teams met.
Highlights:
- Evgeni Nabokov let in four goals, but he did make some big-time saves to keep the Sharks in it.
- Marcel Goc seemed to have everything going as he went to the body often and scored his second goal in the last three games.
- The role players stepped up and pitched in a couple of points. (Rissmiller's 7th from Grier)
Lowlights:
- Thornton left scoreless/assist-less. Now Jumbo Joe has to wait until next game to get his 500th assist.
- Scoring just one goal in seven powerplays
- Jonathan Cheechoo throwing the puck over the glass to give Calgary a powerplay with less than three minutes.
- Calgary then pulling Kipper to go 6 on 4...which allowed Phaneuf to score the tying goal.
