Thornton Tearing It Up

Sharks 3, Coyotes 1

If the San Jose Sharks can find some way to score a goal in their very first shift for the rest of the season and playoffs, then I like our chances for making a deep run. What seems like the 5th time in the last month, Team Teal got off to a super-fast start by scoring on their very first shift of the game. Not surprisingly, it was scorching-hot Joe Thornton that got the ball rolling.

Pacific Title is in the Bag

Sharks 3, Ducks 1

With a strong win over the Anaheim Ducks, the San Jose Sharks have locked up first place in the Pacific, second place in the Western Conference, and at least two rounds with home-ice advantage. As expected, it was a tough and gritty game between the two division foes, but in the end, it was a rather convincing win by Team Teal.

Sharks Getting It Done

Sharks 3, Stars 2 OT

Even though the San Jose Sharks are still without their best winger, Jonathan Cheechoo, Team Teal is still finding a way to win games. This fact just goes to show that San Jose is deep which is very important if you want to win games...especially in the playoffs.

Cheechoo Still Out

Shot to head keeps winger out

When the San Jose Sharks take the ice tonight to take on the Dallas Stars, they will be without Jonathan Cheechoo for a second consecutive game. Number 14 has been the hottest player on Team Teal during the recent winning streak and his absence is forcing coach Ron Wilson to juggle lines. As we saw against Phoenix the other night, juggling may not be in out best interest.

Sharks Take a Night Off...Mentally

Sharks 4, Coyotes 5 OT

Last night, the San Jose Sharks played one of their worst games in a long time. That may be surprising given that they scored four goals, but if you watched, you know what I'm talking about. The defense was terrible, the goaltending was awful, the only thing that kept this game close was Joe Thornton's One-Man-Show.

Sharks Get Closer to Locking Up Pacific

Sharks 2, Ducks 1

On Friday night, the San Jose Sharks got two points closer to nailing down first place in the Pacific Division. Thanks to a gritty effort, Team Teal was able to skate away with the win and gain some confidence against an Anaheim team that has owned them in the past.

Sharks Win Wild One

Sharks 4, Wild 3 SO

Last night, the San Jose Sharks took on the Minnesota Wild in a very exciting game. It was a see-saw battle all night as it went into overtime and then the shootout. Fortunately, Team Teal came out victorious, but it definitely was not easy. In what could be a first round matchup, both squads did not disappoint.

Sharks Back on Track

Sharks 2, Kings 1

The worst team in the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings, made things too close for comfort last night. When the San Jose Sharks went to LA, I was expecting a 3-0 or 4-1 result. Instead, Team Teal let up a bit and gave Kings fans some hope for the last four minutes of the game. As for Sharks fans and coach Ron Wilson, it was just another reason to worry about San Jose's ability to close.

Sharks Winning Streak Ends

Sharks 1, Oilers 2 SO

Well, it had to end sooner or later and I'm glad that it happened now instead of in the playoffs. Moreover, at least the loss wasn't to Anaheim or Dallas which would result in a four point swing. But I got to admit, it burns me a little that it was Edmonton that ended our streak. In fact, had we lost to St. Louis and then beat Edmonton, I think I would be much happier about the loss.

Sharks Beat Blues

Sharks 4, Blues 1

It isn't very often that I stop watching Sharks games early, but to be honest, the game against St. Louis was probably one of those times I should have turned off the tube to go do something more productive. After 20 minutes of play, the Sharks were looking like they would rattle off 10 goals on the night....unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Sharks Putting Up Stats

Who is Marc Savard?

I was looking at the NHL stats this morning and saw that Joe Thornton was again in second place in the 'Assists Race'. I know that he's been battling the Boston Bruins' Marc Savard, but who is this guy? I never really heard much about him, but he seems to be keeping pace with arguably the best assist-man in the world. So here's a brief look at the Boston center.

Sharks Make it Ten in a Row

Sharks 2, Predators 1

Last night, the San Jose Sharks took their game in hand on Dallas and used it to leapfrog over the Stars in the standings. Thanks to a 2 - 1 victory over the Nashville Predators, Team Teal is sitting 2nd in the Western Conference. Though there wasn't much scoring from either team, there were plenty of highlights.

Stop Trying to Jinx the Sharks!

NHL.com Article: Sizzling Sharks hot at right time

For those of you who know me, you know that I am a bit superstitious when it comes to talking about the San Jose Sharks. To be honest, I'm a bit superstitious about almost everything. That's why one shouldn't be surprised when I say something positive about Team Teal, and then follow it up with a "*knock on wood*". It may seem a bit childish, but that's what I do; especially during a long winning streak.

Sharks Captain Saves the Day

Sharks 3, Wild 2 SO

Well, the San Jose Sharks have now won nine games in a row, a new franchise record. Though Team Teal picked up two goals in the first, the Minnesota Wild made sure that it wouldn't be an easy. In fact, if it weren't for Captain Patrick Marleau, I'd probably be blogging about how San Jose could have set a new franchise record for consecutive wins.

Sharks Rain on Chicago's Parade

Sharks 3, Blackhawks 2

On a night when the Chicago Blackhawks celebrated Hall-of-Famers Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita, the San Jose Sharks came from behind to beat the home team and put a little bit of a damper on the party. Thanks to some key goals from hot players and big hits from Sharks defensemen, Team Teal was able to push their winning streak to eight games.

Winning Streak Goes to 7

Sharks 3, Senators 2 OT

Last night, the San Jose Sharks defeated the Ottawa Senators by a score of 3 to 2, in overtime. The first two periods were rather boring; to be honest, I watched the first 40 minutes at "TiVo single forward arrow" speed. However, the last 25 minutes of action was awesome and had me clicking the 8 second rewind often.

What a Game!

Sharks 6, Canadiens 4

After a long eight game road trip, I was worried that the San Jose Sharks would come home tired...too weary to put up a good game against the Eastern Conference leading Montreal Canadiens. Well, it appears that I had nothing to worry about. This game was absolutely amazing...especially if you like scoring...and who doesn't? I know that many coaches don't like high-scoring games because it means that the defense is not having a good night, but I have to believe that Coach Ron Wilson had to be a little excited deep down inside when he saw his squad put on an offensive exhibition.

Sharks Coming Home with Five Wins

Sharks 2, Blues 0

Less than a week ago, Brian Boucher was playing goal in the AHL for the Philadelphia Phantoms. After having shoulder surgery, no NHL teams were willing to give him a contract to the big leagues. Well, on Saturday, four days after receiving an NHL contract from the San Jose Sharks and getting his chance to make a comeback, Boucher took a step in the right direction and posted a shutout.

Sharks Defeat Defensively-Depleted Detroit

Sharks 3, Red Wings 2

Friday night, the San Jose Sharks defeated the Detroit Red Wings by a final score of 3 - 2. This win extended Team Teal's current winning streak to four games. Granted, Detroit was without the services of two future Hall-of-Fame defenseman (Lidstrom and Chelios), but it was a win nonetheless. The two points keep San Jose within reach of the Anaheim Ducks who currently hold the fourth playoff spot which guarantees home-ice through the playoffs.
