Sharks Beat Blues

Sharks 4, Blues 1

It isn't very often that I stop watching Sharks games early, but to be honest, the game against St. Louis was probably one of those times I should have turned off the tube to go do something more productive. After 20 minutes of play, the Sharks were looking like they would rattle off 10 goals on the night....unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

In the first period, the Sharks just dominated play. It reminded me of when the Blues used to do the same to us, but fortunately, that was years ago when San Jose wasn't much of a competitor. Nowadays, Team Teal is able to put a spanking on most teams outside, looking in. Let's hope that continues against Edmonton on Sunday.

Notes:

  • Michalek scored his 23rd of the season on the first shift of the game. For close to 1:45, the top line simply controlled the puck and got chance after chance before putting one in.
  • JR scored his 11th of the season...again, I know I've said this in the past, but Doug Wilson made a great decision by picking up this veteran winger. He just continues to skate hard every night and I think he sets a great example for our young guys.
  • Campbell scored a relatively easy goal thanks to another amazing pass from Jumbo Joe. Number 19 was able to get the puck through the crease, and two sets of legs, right to the tape of a crashing Campbell. After the game, Campbell mentioned that he wanted the puck earlier, but Thornton said that "there was a lot of time and space"...well, a lot of time and space for a player of his skill level. For everyone else in the league, a very very tough play.
  • Patrick Marleau continues to put the puck in the net. On a penalty shot, Number 14 scored his 15th of the season on a very nice move.
