Winning Streak Goes to 7
Sharks 3, Senators 2 OT
Last night, the San Jose Sharks defeated the Ottawa Senators by a score of 3 to 2, in overtime. The first two periods were rather boring; to be honest, I watched the first 40 minutes at "TiVo single forward arrow" speed. However, the last 25 minutes of action was awesome and had me clicking the 8 second rewind often.
Over the last two games of this seven game winning streak, the pessimist inside of me has been wondering if "this is going to be the game that ends it". Fortunately, I have been wrong on both occasions.
Here are my personal highlights from the game:
- Nabby looking solid in net, stopping 18 of 19 shots on the night.
- Cheech scoring...again. The train is still chugging. (*knock on wood*)
- Top Line delivering the tying goal late in the game. The play was pretty sick. On the transition, Michalek skated the puck into the zone and made the right play by putting it on Thornton's tape. With a quick skip pass, Jumbo Joe found a crashing Cheechoo who was able to redirect it up high past Gerber.
- Captain Patrick Marleau lighting the lamp...twice. Once on the powerplay, thanks to a nice pass from Campbell, and then in OT for the game winner, thanks to a slick play made by Pavelski behind the Ottawa net.
- Douglas Murray dropping everyone in sight. Last night, Number 3 racked up five hits...many of which put a Senator on the ice (including Spezza and Lapointe).
