Sharks Reach New Heights
Sharks 5, Kings 2
Last night, the San Jose Sharks defeated the Los Angeles Kings and pushed their point scoring streak to 20 games (18-0-2). The extra two points in the regular home season finale gives Team Teal a total of 108 points in the standings...a new franchise record.
It's great that San Jose continues to win and gain points; however, I think it's even more important to see that some of our role players are getting valuable ice time right before the playoffs. Take Curtis Brown and Ryane Clowe for example. Both forwards missed a lot of games this season due to injury. However, in last night's game, Brown picked up another goal and Clowe another assist. To make a deep run in the playoffs, we are going to need these guys and it's good to see them performing well. Even Matt Carle got into the mix by posting an assist on Brian Campbell's goal.
Notes:
- Jumbo Joe Thornton took a night off from scoring goals and chipped in an assist on Milan Michalek's 24th of the season. Number 19 still leads the league in assists with 66.
- Evgeni Nabokov received his 46th win of the season which locked up his position as the league leader. In second place is Martin Brodeur with 42 wins and New Jersey only has three games remaining.
