Sharks Extend Season...Again

Stars lead series 3-2

Well, it was an uphill battle, but the San Jose Sharks pulled it off and extended their season for at least one more game. After watching them battle back from a 2-0 deficit in the third and then eventually winning it in overtime, I can now call this a series. Before, it was just a blowout, but now, if Team Teal loses tomorrow...I will still be able to hold my head up high and say that I'm a Sharks fan because they've shown me that they have heart...something that was definitely missing in the first three games of this series.

On the night, the Big Guns were the ones to get things going...just the way it should be. The goal scored by the line of Thornton, Cheechoo, and Michalek was a perfect instance of what had been missing in Games 1 - 3...hardwork, puck possession, and teamwork.

Thanks to the extra effort down low, the Sharks were able to possess the puck and generate a goal. More importantly, the three of them worked as a unit and trusted eachother out there. Too many times have I seen a Sharks player try to break through the Dallas defense all by themselves and end up just turning over the puck. I appreciate the effort and positive thinking, but unless it's a break-away, your not going to be able to do it yourself. Fortunately, last night, no one player was trying to do it all by himself. This was evident on the overtime goal by Pavelski. By forechecking as a unit, the Sharks were able to hold the zone, possess the puck, and get a chance on net. Fortunately, the puck was on Little Joe's stick..."Mr. Automatic" on the shootouts and probably the player on the Sharks with the best wrist shot.

Well, the series goes back to Dallas where the Sharks need to win once more to extend their season. As I've said in the previous post, I plan to just watch Game Six and view it as a gift...an extra game to watch my guys in teal who are fighting hard and making their fans proud in the second round...finally.
