Sharks Prove Me Wrong
Stars lead series 3-1
Well, just when I thought the season was over, the San Jose Sharks prove me wrong and win a game. Thanks to some key saves by Nabokov and the continued strong play of Marleau and Michalek, Team Teal's fans get at least one more game this season. As they say in poker, all you need is a chip and a chair to still be in it, but I'm skeptically optimistic about our chances.
Last night's win did provide me with a spark of hope, but I'm doing my best to prepare for what may be another second round exit. Some may say that I'm just being pessimistic or that I'm a fairweather fan, but nothing could be further from the truth. I love the Sharks...that's clear. And if you've read my blog you know that when they lose, I can't just shrug it off...it sticks with me for days. Even worse, I can honestly say that one of the worst days of my year is when the Sharks' lose in the playoffs. I know...a little crazy and sad, but that is why I'm not getting too excited about the Game 4 victory. Winning four games in a row is not an easy thing, especially in the playoffs.
Basically, I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst...especially since the odds are stacked against the Sharks. To somehow win this series, San Jose needs to not only play their best, but they also have to get lucky. As most Sharks fans know, San Jose is known to be streaky...lets hope that we get a couple of bounces and that the team's young legs can keep things going.
With that said, I will watch tomorrow's game and view it as a gift...an opportunity to see my favorite pro sports team play one more time this season. If they win, then great...I get another gift. If they lose, then at least I am more mentally prepared than I have been in the past. Some may think that I'm being ridiculous and taking it way too seriously, but that is the life of a diehard Sharks fan and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one out there that feels this way.
