Some way, some how, my local sports tv network always finds a way to screw me over. If you've read my blog, you know that I absolutely hate it when games are on the 'plus' channel. Or even worse, when my Sharks are preempted by another event that happens to be taking longer than expected. Well, this was the case again last night. Comcast Sports Network - Bay Area, previously Fox Sports Network - Bay Area, did not endear themselves to a number of Sharks fans who were forced to watch A's baseball rather than the first 10 minutes of the NHL post-season.
This morning, I was listening to NHL Home Ice on my XM radio when I heard former NHLer and "expert analyst" Denis Potvin pick the Calagary Flames to upset the San Jose Sharks. Granted, he said it would be a good series, but in the end, he still questioned Team Teal's grit. Here's a brief recap of what he said...
Check out the new San Jose Sharks Video Highlights section. I will be updating the video clip the day after every game. Consequently, SanJoseSharksBlog.com will always have the most recent Sharks highlights for you to watch.
I was looking at the NHL stats this morning and saw that Joe Thornton was again in second place in the 'Assists Race'. I know that he's been battling the Boston Bruins' Marc Savard, but who is this guy? I never really heard much about him, but he seems to be keeping pace with arguably the best assist-man in the world. So here's a brief look at the Boston center.
For those of you who know me, you know that I am a bit superstitious when it comes to talking about the San Jose Sharks. To be honest, I'm a bit superstitious about almost everything. That's why one shouldn't be surprised when I say something positive about Team Teal, and then follow it up with a "*knock on wood*". It may seem a bit childish, but that's what I do; especially during a long winning streak.
The NHL trade deadline is next Tuesday, giving GMs a little under seven days to make a move to improve their team for this year (or next year). Compared to past seasons, it sure feels like there haven't been many trades. According to NHL.com, there have only been 13 trades since January 1st. Morover, the biggest names that came out of these trades have been Modry, Stillman, Commodore, Tarnstrom, and Shelley...not really jaw droppers are they?
After losing to both the Rangers and the Islanders, San Jose has now dropped four in a row. I was hoping that time away from home would get Team Teal back into work mode, back to where they know how to win...boy was I wrong.
It has been almost six weeks since my last post. Why? Well, as we all know, the Holiday Season can be tough. The mad scrambles to the mall, the numerous holiday gatherings, and then the eventual Holiday Season Hangover...when it just feels like torture to go back to work. Granted, these are weak excuses, but they're true. Along with many other things, blogging fell by the wayside for me, but it is time for a comeback. For me...and the San Jose Sharks.
Usually, two losses in 12 days wouldn't be bad during a team's average NHL schedule. However, as I've mentioned before, San Jose's schedule has been anything but average.
After being embarrassed by the San Jose Sharks in a 5-0 loss, the Phoenix Coyotes now have to deal with off-ice issues as well. Thanks to a very bad decision made in the last moments of the game Monday night, Nick Boynton now has to serve a one game suspension and his coach, Wayne Gretzky, must pay a fine.
