Well, with both the San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens saying goodbye to the playoffs, the NHL is left with two teams to face off for Lord Stanley's cup. Personally, I will be rooting for the Philadelphia Flyers, even though I can't stand Chris Pronger! At any rate, click on the title of this post to see the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Final Schedule...TV listings included.

With Game Six between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks going down tonight, many San Jose Sharks fans will be watching as the winner of this series goes on to face Team Teal in the Western Conference Finals. At this point, Chicago holds a 3 - 2 lead, but Vancouver is at home and goaltender Roberto Luongo looks to be regaining his All-Star/Olympic form after making a number of big saves in the last tilt between these teams. So, with two potential opponents...who do I want to face? Well, I have arguments for both teams, but after polling a number of Fin-atics, the clear choice is Vancouver by a 4 to 1 margin over Chicago.

Well, I'm sure that almost everyone had a feeling that Detroit would come out of the first round...though Phoenix definitely gave them a run for their money. After the Red Wings defeated the Coyotes in Game 7, I heard some grumbling about having to face Detroit and how San Jose always gets "owned" by the guys in red. Unfortunately, I can't blame them...Detroit has proven that they have Team Teal's number for some reason. However, I personally am glad that we're facing Detroit in the second round of the playoffs...and here's a few reasons why.

Just when you thought it couldn't get much worse, the San Jose Sharks lose to the worst team in the NHL by a final score of 1 - 5. Yes folks...Team Teal has now dropped six games straight...their worst losing streak of the season. If my research is correct, the Sharks haven't lost that many games in a row since the 2005 - 2006 NHL season where they dropped 10 in a row under former coach Ron Wilson. I'm not going to lie. It is getting very difficult to watch San Jose skate (or not skate) right now. Part of me wishes that there was more days in between games just so that I can take a break from the agony. Seeing the Sharks lose over and over again is so frustrating...we obviously have a great team with a huge payroll...what is going on?!

What a game...the scene could not have been set more perfectly...for Canada that is. I can't imagine that there is anything better than winning an Olympic Gold Medal in hockey against the United States of America on home ice. Well, that's what Team Canada did yesterday and fortunately for us Sharks fans, four of our boys got to celebrate. With the number of players we had headed to Vancouver, it was all but guaranteed that a Sharks player would come home with the Gold. With players on Team Canada, USA, Russia, and Sweden, San Jose had a very good shot at bringing home some Olympic hardware. In the end, the San Jose Sharks collected a total of five medals; four gold and one silver...not bad at all.

Well, it's been just under a week since I last posted and you can blame the Olympics. Every two years, I find myself in a fog...unable to focus on anything else but the Olympic games. Between the Winter games and Summer games, Winter is my favorite for obvious reasons. The level of hockey has simply been amazing. Not only has the play been great to watch, but the Olympics has given me the opportunity to pay attention to players who I never get to really see on a consistent basis. Pool play allowed me to see the Eastern young guns such as Crosby, Malkin, and my personal favorite...Ovechkin. There is just so much talent in the NHL and the Olympics do a great job of showcasing it. Unfortunately, like all good things, the Olympics will eventually come to an end. Thomas Greiss of Team Germany was the first San Jose Shark to finish his run at the gold medal, but after tonight, he will have some company.

With the NHL in hibernation and the 2010 Olympics rolling along, it's time to change our jerseys from black and teal to...well, whatever colors you're favorite country is wearing. Luckily for San Jose Sharks fans, we have the opportunity to cheer for our guys in four different sweaters. So, if you're looking to grab your 2010 Olympics jersey for the USA, Canada, Russia, Sweden, or Germany, check out the links I found below.

Thanks to Toronto Maple Leaf's GM Brian Burke, you can consider trading season officially open. With the Winter Olympics just around the corner, many fans and experts weren't sure how the festivities would impact this year's trade deadline. Looking at the calendar, there would only be a few days between the end of the Olympic games and the NHL trade deadline. Consequently, many believed that trades would come later than usual to avoid any surprising injuries that may come from the two weeks of grueling international hockey. Well, with Burke pulling the trigger on two big trades this weekend, I think it's safe to say that he's looking to make his moves early. What will everyone else do?
